Production Planner
Job
Summary:
Manage the development of planning processes and methods, influence and interact with cross-functional stakeholders and partners and execute tactical planning duties including work order tracking, customer fulfillment, and understanding and contributing to forecasting processes.
Communicate daily status to stakeholders including production, customer services, operations, and management.
Responsibilities:
o Manage planning process development and promote continuous improvement.
o Assess raw material needs and advise procurement as required.
o Support development of requirements for planning tools, including automated solutions, common component part numbers, supermarket staging and capacity planning.
o Develop and manage production schedule and work orders to achieve service and shipping commitments leveraging on-time-deliveries to our customers.
o Manage capacity planning process to match production loading with current manufacturing capacity, shift capacity, expanded capacity and labor availability.
o Incorporate preventive maintenance and product development activities into production schedules working with our maintenance team.
o Support sales and customer service by managing general lead times and order commitment dates including logistic requirements.
o Understand and measure planning productivity for efficiency and establish KPI's to measure success.
o Interface with necessary functions (manufacturing, shipping, receiving, customer service, IT) to ensure orders are completed on time and communicate status daily.
o Support maintenance of accurate and consistent production system data such as product router and associated attributes.
o Analyze production and sales data to devise and measure efficient production and stocking methods to ensure high customer fulfillment levels.
o Define logical material flow and staging areas, using mechanisms such as Kanban, pull signals, and visual replenishment according to process optimization, lean manufacturing principles and 5S.
o Review, analyze, and communicate inventory status to manage material flow from raw material receipt to finished product daily.
o Performs other duties or special projects as required or assigned by management o Adherence to all SOP's a must o Production floor performance optimization including spooling, labeling and ready to pack communication critical.
Qualifications:
o Bachelor's Degree required o 5
years of relevant experience in the field o 5
years of experience in a manufacturing facility or similar operating environment o Expert knowledge of MRP methodology and typical ERP functionality Understanding of a variety of fundamental scheduling methods based on serial product flow and constraint management.
o Understanding of capacity planning, at various levels of aggregation:
cell/line, department & facility o Ability to lead teams using problem solving methodology.
o Ability to multi-task and coordinate activities between departments and groups o Communicate complex ideas effectively with all levels of the organization.
o Computer skills including Excel, Access and automated production, inventory control and business systems.
o Ability to apply lean principles to planning processes and associated physical manufacturing layouts.
o Lean manufacturing, 5S, Kanban and Kaizen knowledge a plus Recommended Skills Business Systems Consulting Continuous Quality Improvement (Cqi) Customer Service Forecasting Kanban Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
